Is it Normal to Have A crack that Stops MidWay?

My husband has a "patch"-o-"skin" . This is an honest question guys!! His crack seems to not be "all the way formed" and where the line of the crack should keep going up -it stops midway and its like a dimple and then "the patch -o- skin where the crack should end .....so has anyone ever heard of this or seen a crack like it b4?
